Day In The Life Of A River
A state wide, one day, field based community science program to assess and create a snapshot of the current health of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers
The Schoharie River Center will be joining the DEC and other community organizations across the state for a day of water quality testing along the Mohawk watershed. We will have three testing site:
-Middleburgh NY, after school on the Schoharie Creek
-Duanesburgh, NY, during the school day on the Normans Kill Creek
-Schenectady, NY, after school at Central Park - 3-5pm
Schenectady, NY
Saturday, October 10th - 3pm to 5pm
Students and community members are welcome to join the SRC as we test the water from the creek in Central Park. We will conduct a Bio-Assessment (collect and catalogue what macro-invertebrate life is present in the water), and a set of basic water chemestries (Testing the water for pH, Alkalinity, Dissolved Oxygen, Turbidity, Conductivity, Nitrate – Nitrogen, and Orthophosphate). Learn the methods, and help collect significant data that will be reported back to the NY State DEC.
Meeting at the Central Park Pavilion
